"Ayazuddin, son of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin, dies five days after being critically injured in road accident," a doctor said told ndtv.com.
The 19-year-old upcoming cricketer was driving a high-power sports bike with his cousin, 16-year-old Azmal-ur-Rahman, riding pillion when he lost control.
While, Ayazuddin suffered critical injuries, Azmal succumbed to his injuries in the crash on Sunday morning.
On late Monday evening, doctors at Hyderabad's Apollo Hospital, where Ayazuddin was admitted after the accident, had issued a statement saying, "His (Ayazuddin's) condition continues to be very critical and the patient is being managed in the Intensive Care Unit on ventilator and BP suppor."
Ayazuddin had played in under-13, under-15 and under-19 cricket and was considered a promising talent.
A look-alike of Azharuddin, the stylish way and Hyderabadi wrist technique and all, Ayaz was known to be a better cricketer than his elder brother Ashaduddin.
